- Archives - Secularism versus Christianity 7/9/2005 By Nadir Martello Foreword “This article concerns secularism, the social ideology in which religion and supernatural beliefs are not seen as the key to understanding the world and are instead segregated from matters of governance. For other forms of being secular, and perspective on the terminology underlying the word "secularism", see secularity. ….. secularity, that is, being secular, in various senses. The word "secular" is derived from the Latin word saeculum (age), and originally means "happening once in an age". This offers the opportunity for a confusing variety of meanings. A dog is "big" compared to an ant but not compared to an elephant, and "secular" is similarly subject to "relative to what?" ambiguity. But secular also means, in different contexts, long (relative to something else) because an "age" is a long time, and (relatively) short because an age is "not very long compared to eternity". Its usage often stands in contrast to the word sacred.” From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secularity Part one It has become quite clear to me that the world has adopted a totally new “outlook”, or for a better word, a mentality, a secular frame of mind, which is wholly different to the Christian way of thinking. “Forma mentis” As a lay missionary in Madagascar, I was instructed by missionaries who spent almost their entire lives there, to have respect for the native culture, to listen to them, to have empathy for their personal problems and so on. Their “forma mentis”, they told me, is different from ours, and if you do not understand their way of thinking you will never make good Christians out of them.” Those missionaries were right and I am grateful for their wisdom. But what has the Malagasy mentality to do with secularism? I mentioned this, because there is a clear parallel between these two ways of thinking, Paganism/Secularism & Christianity. We are dealing with two different mentalities. The former is worldly and concerned about the here and now; it is materialistic, pragmatic, sensual, and most of all is demonic[1]. The latter is spiritual and concerned with the building of the Kingdom of God in this life, while the afterlife (i.e. eternal life) with the Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven, is the true and final destination of our journey here on earth. Secular mentality Nowadays society stands completely in opposition to such Christian values as self-sacrifice, self-denial, immolation, humility, chastity, poverty, obedience, discipline, and so on. For self-realization, self-esteem, self-gratification, disobedience, narcissism, are the order of the day, for everyone who follows this new thinking. Naturally, this modern way of thinking did not appear overnight. Secular mentality has been nurtured for a couple of centuries through the education system and in particular the mass media. Part two Trojan horses Karl Marx, Charles Darwin, and Carl Gustav Jung have been the main agents in this paradigm shift from Christianity to secular modern thinking. Communism, Darwinism and Gnosticism have been three Trojan horses that have eroded the Christian foundation in our Christian civilization. However, the Illuminati, or to be more specific Freemasonry[2], have been the most obdurate enemy of Christianity for centuries, even before the French Revolution. Christianity was not a match for this new way of thinking, because the Catholic Church lost its way long ago, but especially since Vatican II. The Novus Ordo Church today is a religious organization with little in common with our traditional religion. In other words, it stopped being Catholic and became thoroughly secular, except for a minority of faithful [remnant] scattered around the world. Freemasonry & Communism As I mentioned above, the Freemasonry has been the Catholic Church’s enemy for long time and Communism has been, and still is their brainchild[3].
Eastern & Western Communism “It’s a free country,” people say about Australia. “Yes, indeed, Australia is a free country”, I reply glibly.
But free from what? From Christianity of course, is the first thought that comes to mind. The paradox is, Christian religion has been the basis for every good thing our present civilization has acquired in the past two thousand years, from philosophy, art, music, literature and folklore to modern technology. But today people say, “Christianity is the enemy of progress and scientific research. We don’t need it. We are liberated from it”. However, in History Of Man, Alexander Tytler has this to say: From bondage to spiritual faith From spiritual faith to great courage From courage to liberty From liberty to abundance From abundance to selfishness From selfishness to complacency From complacency to apathy From apathy to dependency From dependency back to bondage All this is taking place right before our eyes here in our western society. In eastern countries, where Communism is the regime of the day, such as in China, the former Soviet Union, North Korea, Cambodia, and Vietnam, people are not free as we are here, but their moral stand is comparatively better than ours. Murders, abortion, euthanasia, robbery, homosexuality, divorce, bestiality, racism, child abuse, pornography, satanism, drug addition, might exist there, but not to the extent that we have here in our secular society. Moreover, in these Communist countries, murder [along with executions] and abortion are legislated by the government, because these are part of their party/state policies, not arising from the people themselves. Here in the west, on the contrary, murders and abortions are the real scourge of our secular western mentality. In particular, abortion is the result of our “sexually liberated society”. “Vietnam is a Communist country??... But it’s open now, isn’t it?” a friend of mine asked me the other day, while talking about how many Asian students now attend the university here in Australia. Yes, Vietnam is open to tourism; also some of their youth come here to study at our universities[4]. These countries are open to us, because they have nothing to lose [except, maybe, what is left of their traditions?] and everything to gain from us [an education?]. But when talking to these friends about Communism, I did not get any reaction from them. Actually, the only feedback I got was not related to Communism per se, but that I should stop telling them what I believe as historical facts regarding the United States and Vietnam of the ‘70s, for these do not fit with what the media has told them. Needless to say, they are not the only ones. On many other occasions like this one, when touching the same topic – people are very indifferent! There and then I saw myself, not talking with friends any more, but as if a stone wall was there in front of me - it wouldn’t have made any difference whatever I said. I really sensed I was going nowhere with them and worse still, I felt utterly battered and dumbstruck. Communist/Secular mentality That episode made me think that western man, without knowing, already thinks like a Communist. Here in the west, we preach “democracy”, and the French motto: “liberty, equality, fraternity”. But individuality, tradition, discipline, dogma, wisdom, private property, family, children and marriage, responsibility, are not part of our vocabulary any more, as were Christian values of old. Regarding responsibility, I recently came across this statement: “Why do we feel we have to deny truth in order to be "peaceful?" It's just so sad, so irresponsible, so untruthful and cowardly. Peace comes through responsibility, not denial.” from “ADL, Zionist Policies Causing Rise In Anti-Jewish Sentiment”, by Leland Lehrman http://www.rense.com/general67/adlpol.htm] Allegorically speaking, secular man today is like someone looking for his hat while he is wearing it – he is so brainwashed by the education system and the mass media that he is totally oblivious of what is happening to him. In summary Today, I am well aware that I am part of this remnant of Catholic people who no longer speak the language of modern secular society. We are speaking of two different mentalities, the secular and the Christian, which are in complete opposition to each other. They are in opposition, because the secular mentality is evil[5]; it is based on deception and lies. Just turn on the TV or radio and you will find out for yourself. As Thomas Jefferson said: "He who knows nothing is nearer to the truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors." And Rabbi Wayne Dosick said: "The reality is, if we tell the truth, we only have to tell the truth once. If we lie, we have to keep lying forever." “Tell people something they know already, and they will thank you for it. Tell them something new, and they will hate you for it.”
Nadir Martello · [1] Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. [John 12:31] · This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you. [John 14:17] · Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. [John 14:27] · I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me; [John 14:30] · "If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you. · If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. Because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world--therefore the world hates you. [John 15: 18-19] · And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because they do not believe in me; [John 16:8- 9]
· ”Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor; and he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me." · Jesus said to him, "Away with you, Satan! For it is written, 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.'" [Mat 4: 8-10] · Then the devil led him up and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.” · “And the devil said to him, "To you I will give their glory and all this authority; for it has been given over to me, and I give it to anyone I please. · If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours." [Luke 4: 5-7] · He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him. [John 1:10] · And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. [John 3:19] · The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify against it that its works are evil. [John 7:7] · He said to them, "You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world. [John 8:23] · Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God--what is good and acceptable and perfect. [Rom 12:2] · Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? · For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, God decided, through the foolishness of our proclamation, to save those who believe. [1 Cor 1:20-21] · Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. [1 Cor 2:12] · Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? [1 Cor 6:2] · In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. [2 Cor 4:4] · So with us; while we were minors, we were enslaved to the elemental spirits of the world. [Gal 4:3] · In which you once lived, following the course of this world, following the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work among those who are disobedient. · All of us once lived among them in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of flesh and senses, and we were by nature children of wrath, like everyone else. An excellent summary of why God is being rejected in our time. The communications media, writes Bishop O'Gara, carry a message of raw materialism. Fixed moral laws are scorned, the human person is degraded; and the "fall out" from corrupted institutions of learning flows across our nation. Rather they study computer and information technology, business or some other study related to it. I wonder why? [5] Definition of evil is: privation of a due good. It is something which must be there which is lacking. St. Thomas Aquinas
