THE ANTI-SMOKING CAMPAIGN
-
What is it all about? –
12/11/04
Tell me, why is it that, after decades of
tobacco use and multimillion dollar advertising campaigns, we have
such draconian laws against tobacco use, to the point of pushing
tobacco manufacturing companies to total bankruptcy?
Tobacco companies legally made [and some still
make] billions of dollars in sales; state & federal governments have
had their share. Some people died of lung-cancer in the process, and
some still suffer from it; but apart from characteristically having
nicotine stained fingers, most still enjoy, in their breaks, a
relaxing cigarette.
I remember smoking my first cigarette butt at
the age of four [no kidding]. It was exciting then. By the age of
thirteen I was smoking anything offered to me by my father’s
employees in our smash-repair workshop in Italy. By the time I was
in the navy from ages 20 to 23, I smoked on average 15 cigarettes a
day. I quit smoking after I completed my navy term in 1963 and never
touched a cigarette since.
My father was a heavy smoker of between two and
three packets (40-60 cigarettes) a day. He died of a stroke aged
85. My paternal grandfather, too, died of a stroke. But neither of
them died because of tobacco related illness. Most my family on both
my father’s and mother’s side were smokers, but not one of them died
of tobacco-induced illness.
So why all this fuss about tobacco?
Business decrease in the tobacco industry
Nowadays, tobacco smokers are a minority and I
really sympathise with them because they have been stigmatised by
the media as the pariahs of society. There is now almost no place
where they can have their “smoko”, without imputations of blame and
guilt. Smoking has been banned in most public places - cinemas,
theatres, hotels, restaurants, post offices, supermarkets, as well
as public transport - for some years now. Even open-air spaces such
as parks are denied them.
Business increasing in illegal drugs
On the other hand, we notice a relatively new
phenomenon looming in our midst - that is drug-addiction,
particularly among the youth, but also among those in the 30-45 age
group. Nowadays, I dare say, there is no class of society has not
been touched by illegal drugs. There is no city around the world
that has not been touched by drug addiction; even country towns have
not be spared.
Governments have spent millions, and given many
speeches on “zero-tolerance” for illegal drugs. Politicians like to
make speeches ornate with flourishing promises saying, ‘illegal
drugs must be fought with all means at our disposal, for the sake of
future generations and the country.’
Results
After many years of “war on illegal drugs and
on their perpetrators” our streets and public toilets are still
littered with syringes, and thousands, young and not-so-young, are
now sick, brain-damaged, and some have died because of drug
addiction.
Media
Is the media screaming and beating the drum
because of this? No way, screaming is not on, because we are “a
compassionate society” you know. Drug addiction is a health problem.
It has, they claim, nothing to do with family-breakdown, or lack of
moral standards and religion values. Media is busy today drumming
about “War on Terrorism” & Liberation campaign”
than to care about exposing the truth.
CIA
The CIA
is notorious for its dealing in narcotics to pay, off the record,
for their secret deals in many countries; whether in
Latin America, Europe, Asia, Australia or elsewhere.
Now for the sake of
relevance re illegal drugs to a country like Australia, there
is this document from “GeorgeWalkerBush.net - Harken Energy And
Insider Trading”, states: “William
Quasha
had also
given legal advice to two top officials of the notorious Nugan Hand
Bank in Australia, a CIA operation”
[see:
http://www.georgewalkerbush.net/harkenenergyandinsidertrading.htm]
regarding the Nugan Hand Bank scandal
in Australia.
Closed in 1980, Nugan Hand was not only tied to drug-money
laundering and U.S. intelligence and military circles, but also to
the CIA’s covert backing for a “constitutional coup” in Australia
that caused the fall of Prime Minister Gough Whitlam.” [See “US
military and CIA oversaw Far East drug smuggling for 20 years”;
http://www.timnews.com/drug-hand.htm]
The underground
drug-industry amounts to trillions of dollars
yearly, mostly in cash, through which the banking industry gains
legitimacy. That is called ‘money laundering,’ and banks thrive on
it.
Our Western society is a ’liberated’ society,
because we have a ‘democratic’ system, whereas Middle East countries
‘don’t know what democracy is,’ the media intimates. The irony is,
if you want to live a comparatively decent, morally sane and safe
life, where suicide, drug addiction, homosexuality, abortion,
violence, murder, rape, AIDS, family breakdown, pollution, etc. are
kept to a minimum, the Middle East and Asian countries in which
Islam predominates, offer greater opportunities than our decadent
West.

And what have we to
say about the connection between illegal drugs, and prostitution,
homosexuality and HIV/AIDS, which are rife in our ‘liberated’
Australia? Not only do people damage themselves for good, and some
die because of drugs addiction, but according to scientist Peter
Duesberg, HIV/ADIS virus is the result of illegal drugs, which
weaken the immune system.
Peter Duesberg,
The Invention of HIV/AID Virus, 1996 Regnery Publishing Inc
The CIA has been,
and still is, the great villain of the century. If anybody cares to
know the truth about smuggling drugs, say from the ’60s to the late
’70s, should look at how the CIA made its way in Asia, especially in
Vietnam. It was there that 20% of the American troops got hooked on
drugs, mainly heroin. Once back home those war-veterans started
spreading the so-called ‘HIV/AIDS virus.’
[see
“AIDS The HIV Myth,” by Jad Adams,

In David Yallop’s
book, “UNHOLY ALLIANCE”, Stanley Kubiesti is the alleged
American hero, who died in the Vietnam War. At the ceremony, the
coffin of the dead soldier was saluted by
the then President of the United State of American, Richard Nixon.
What the President did not know was that he was saluting, not
Private Stanley Kubieski’s remains, but a coffin with packets of
heroine totalling fifteen kilos in weight
inside and outside the label “DO NOT
OPEN! DANGER! TYPHUS!” [“Unholy Alliance,” by David Yallop, pages
11-14] That was the story line. Nonetheless, “fiction reveals truths
that reality obscures,” said Jessamyn West.
That was the way the CIA dealt in the Vietnam
conflict. CIA paid, off the record, for their little wars around the
world. See also:

Conclusion
How do you explain then, that what was and is
still legal - smoking tobacco in public - has been almost everywhere
banned, and anybody infringing the law will be heavily fined; while
what is illegal - heroine, cocaine, acid, marijuana, etcetera - are
“good for business”, and therefore flourishing?
Qua bono? For whose benefit?
My guess is that today there is more money to
be made in illegal drug trade than in legal tobacco trade, or is
that too far-fetched? Facts tell me exactly what I stated –
illegal drugs is a trillion dollar business annually, and not only
that, with a drug-addict society you have more control, than a jolly
tobacco-smoker one, for the latter are the ones who have not lost
their reasoning and common sense.
Yes, of course, nicotine leaves a stain on your
fingers, and possibly in the long run, on your lungs too; whereas
heroine, or other so- called ‘recreational drugs’, first harden your
veins and then, if you are still alive, it will transform your brain
into an omelette – fried for good.
