- Articles - Multiculturalism - The ultimate deception – 11/12/2007
The other day, after a recess from writing, being busy doing many other urgent things, I was cracking a couple of apricot seeds, in order to eat their kernels [I was told that the kernel of the apricot seed contains cyanide, which is an anti-cancer[1] agent and very nutritious], and an idea struck me. It is in regard to the melting pot called by the name of “multiculturalism.” One may ask what the cracking of apricot seeds has to do with the multiculturalism. Well, a lot, in my opinion. But we will come back to that. According to some dictionaries, the definition of multiculturalism is as follows: 1. the state or condition of being multicultural. 2. the preservation of different cultures or cultural identities within a unified society, as a state or nation . Or: Of or relating to a social or educational theory that encourages interest in many cultures within a society rather than in only a mainstream culture . I believe that most people today would subscribe to the number 2 definition of multiculturalism. However, the realty tells me that the opposite is true. I am an Italian, a native of Adria, which is a town in the Veneto region [one of the twenty regions in Italy itself] in the northeast in Italy. Our family emigrated, in 1955, to Vigevano, a town in the Lombardy region, and right in the centre of northern Italy, about 300 kilometers from Adria. Historically the people of Lombardy and Veneto are quite different, culturally speaking. For a start, they speak different dialects, they eat different food, and as far as their beliefs are concerned they are poles apart from each other in traditions and backgrounds. At the time I was only fifteen years old; I recall noticing that once people from Veneto established themselves in Vigevano [or elsewhere for that matter], most of them abandoned their habits and customs, to be exact, their culture and tradition was forgotten and their Catholic faith with it in the process. ‘Why is that?’ one may ask. The reason is that once an individual leaves his native country, he leaves his roots behind also, and gradually adopts the host’s way of living, as in the aforementioned case, the Lombardy culture. Within a generation, the people from Veneto have adopted the Lombardy way of living. In other words, they eat the same food, they speak the same dialect and what is more, they stop going to church - for it is well known that most Lombardy people do not practice their Catholic faith, or if they do, lukewarmly. This is an inter-regional phenomenon. On an international level, this fact is even more conspicuous, and much, much worse. What I mean by that is that you cannot preserve a culture, any culture, [read tradition and costumes] in a country where today nationality, and sovereignty, is threatened or disappearing completely. Take Australia for instance. What happened to the Italian culture among the Italians, the Greek among the Greeks, or the British etcetera? What about the European Union then? What happened - or is happening - to the different cultures of the different nations within it? Are they not blending together to the point of becoming extinct? Take Italy, Germany, France, Spain, or any other country within the EU. With the millions of illegal immigrants coming into their countries every day, how they feel? Don’t they think that something has been taken away from them, namely, their own culture? This is thanks to their corrupted political leaders. To use an analogy, they [the nations] were like wine, good at one time, but mixed with water. Today it’s not wine any more, but colored water. To come back to our topic, multiculturalism is a melting pot. In a melting pot the distinction between cultures is unimportant to the point of becoming meaningless. Tradition, morés, and good customs among society are all lost. In the long run, nobody remembers their past, and history is lost. With no history people tend to make the same mistakes as their predecessors. What is more, with no history people have no reference point, no knowledge, no understanding of culture. With no culture, civilization as we know it, is lost. Now to come back to our question: “What has the cracking of apricot seeds to do with the multiculturalism?” Well, as I said above, with no history, that is, no recollection of one’s own culture, ignorance reigns supreme. And if one day you will be struck by cancer, how are going to deal with it? Would you know that an apricot seed kernel [among other fruit kernels] has curative proprieties? It’s very unlikely. It is part of that something that has been lost. Conclusion Thus if multiculturalism is a deceptive device used by our politicians to enslave and keep the peoples on this earth ignorant, what are we going to do to improve the situation? Vote for them at the next election? Ignore them? Continuing living as though nothing has happened? This is for you to decide, dear reader. As for myself, apart from continuing to eat apricot kernels, I will continue to fight the present system by telling people: “Don’t trust anybody who accepts the present state of affairs. Do things yourself and keep your independence. Don’t watch TV and, ultimately, trust God alone and pray to hasten His Kingdom on earth. Maranathà
