- Article - Apostles for Life news update 30/11/2006 Since my last letter, “The Neo-Catholic Way” (19/11/2006) http://www.sheddinglight.info/articlesletter_the_neo_catholic_way.htm successive developments were in their making. Last Monday 27th, November, Angela and I paid a visit to the Northern Star office to speak with the reporter, Alex Easton, who wrote the front page article http://www.northernstar.com.au/localnews/storydisplay.cfm?storyid=3711232&thesection= localnews&thesubsection=&thesecondsubsection= to offer him Angela’s written report in chronological order of how this came to be made public, if they would be interested in pursuing the whole story rather that just half of it. Actually, Alex Easton not only was interested, but he was prepared to interview us on the spot. Naturally we declined, saying that we would not be interviewed without his having read the written report. We did not come to criticize his article or to defend ourselves, but to enlighten those who believe the distorted story presented in such a devious manner. It was a distraction from the real issue. “We came here” we said, “only to give you the whole story. In reading your article people might now get the impression that we are a type of terrorist group. But apart from that, the issue here is not to defend ourselves, but to give the background of Dennis Carroll’s ban of Apostles for Life. “We have already sent an e-mail to the Northern Star with the detailed documentation about how this issue cropped up. You read it first and then, if you still want talk to us, we’ll be prepared to answer some of the questions you will put to us.” Mr. Alex Easton went to see if our e-mail was stored in their PC. He came back from the office saying nothing was there. Then we gave him the Apostles for Life link to read: The whole story (27/11/2008) - http://www.apostlesforlifesite.org/articles_the_whole_story.htm]. Alex Easton told us that there had been a complaint from the Inter-faith and Ecumenical Commission that could take legal action against us for anti-Semitic material. We left the Northern Star office and went home. Tuesday we received a phone call from a friend informing us of the editorial in the Northern Star about Apostles for Life. This is it:
In reading the above editorial, the first thought that came to my mind was this passage straight from the Gospel According to Luke: “That same day Herod and Pilate became friends with each other; before this they had been enemies.” [Luke 23:12] The above praise came from the Northern Star editor, Russell Eldridge, who never misses an opportunity to attack the Catholic Church, much to Fr. Dennis Carroll’s chagrin. Once during a Sunday Mass, he warned Catholic people to be wary about attacks by the Northern Star on the Church. The former antagonists have become allies. Personally, I have no doubts about Russell Eldridge’s anti Christian sentiments. It is enough to read his past writings on the same sex marriage issue, or other views on the religious matters to see what he is about. This is it, and until next time then. “The Neo-Catholic Way” 19/11/2006 If one wants to attract attention and feel good about oneself in our secular society, there are a few expedients. Get a few tattoos on your body [the lower the parts the better]; pierce your face and tongue with a few rings; shave or dye your hair – bingo, you’ll have hundreds of eyes staring at you… Now in the Catholic religious context in Lismore, those guidelines don’t apply. If one wants to attract the attention of the Rev Dennis Carroll, Administrator of Lismore Cathedral, one must instead do the very Catholic work that the Catholic Church has done for twenty centuries, without compromising truth. In other words this work is the respect for HUMAN LIFE, especially for the unborn child. Now, my wife Angela and I have being doing the very work under the banner of Apostles for Life here in the Lismore Diocese in the last seven years. This apostolate has always followed the Catholic Church guidelines; under the former bishop John Satterthwaite, and with the approval of the present Bishop Geoffrey Jarrett, until recently. Now, for some strange reason, this apostolate has been banned from the Lismore parish, and according to the Vicar General Dennis Carroll, there are anti-Jewish views expressed in Apostles For Life website. He also states that “the group is discontinued.” I would like to correct the misunderstanding that the group is discontinued because it no longer meets at the Cathedral and Parish Centre. Apostles For Life are simply a group of faithful Catholics, united in a common cause, that is the protection of human life. My understanding is that Apostles for Life problem is related to being genuinely Catholic and not the watered down version that “evolved” before our very eyes over the last 40 years in the Neo-church, to which Fr. Dennis Carroll belongs. If anyone is a genuine Catholic i.e. follows the traditions which are older than 40 years, one is seen as a dire threat who would be better “excommunicated”. Doesn’t matter if one is a heretic, a child molester, an atheist, an abortionist, a sodomite, a Satanist, or a Freemason – “Come as you are” says the song; as long you say keep quiet about the atrocities going on in this “valley of tears”.
